[REVIEW] : Cica Cream VT Cosmetics or Dr.Jart+
Look what came to today! It was a great surprise for being selected for this product review campaign, I always wanted to try out the Cicapair cream from Dr.Jart and yes finally I got to try it today. Thanks to StyleKorean for giving me such a great opportunity as a reviewer for their awesome products. I have heard a lot of cica cream but totally no idea what is this cica about. How about Centella asiatica? Yes, you are right! Cica is actually a nickname for its scientific name: Centella Asiatica. They are both the same thing. Personally, I had very oily and acne-prone skin. Not to mention, I have very sensitive skin too! I got rashes easily whenever I used skincare that is too strong in chemical ingredients. Or pimples might pop when I used a moisturizer that is cream-based. Most of the time, I always opt for the gel or water-based moisturizer for my skin and I was way too picky when it comes to skincare. I had bad skin ever since I hit my puberty and even now I reached my 30s, pimples still never leave me at all.
Ok, long story short. Today I’m going to do a comparison between these two creams after tested them for about a week plus. I am kind of excited and also worried at the same time. LOL. Worry because I’m afraid I might have purging or so and excited because I love to try new products and cant wait to see the results on my skin! Sounds ironic huh? I am living in a hot and humid country, so yeah I hope this cream really helps me to reduce my acne and soothe my skin irritation. I started off with this Cicapair from Dr.Jart first, I always love Dr. Jart's packaging, they are always so simple and minimalist. It is not some metal tube but it is made of plastic. Stylekorean team sent over the 50ml for me to test out, always so generous! And I guess this is their full size if I’m not mistaken. It came in a tube form which is super convenient and more hygienic, you don’t want to dip your finger into the whole tub and slap it on your face right and it eventually contaminates the whole tub. On the first day of using this cream, I try to apply it only at night before I off to bed because I was extra cautious and I need to test out first if it might irritate my skin. I pump a small pea size on my palm as the last step of my skincare routine. As you can see from the picture itself, the cream is light mint green in color, just look like avocado spread, lol. Yes, the texture seems very rich and thick, indeed it is. So I just squeeze a very small amount only for my entire face, as I don’t want to make my face even oilier after applying this cream. Oh, yea, my face just got too greasy way too fast even I just washed like 2 hours ago. I applied the cream more on the area where my acne just popped 2 days back. I’m going to apply it for few nights to see if the redness on my scar reduces. I will share my experiences and final thoughts at the end of this post for both the creams. Okay, now let’s jump to the Cica Cream by VT Cosmetics. I have no heard of VT Cosmetics before, they are the global K-Beauty concept brand. Surprisingly they have a store in Singapore though. I’m going to have a stroll once the pandemic is over! I’ve been using these creams as my day cream for the past 1 week, and yes, Let’s get into this review!
The Cica Cream is described as a gentle, soothing formula and comes in metal tube packaging. It contains their trademarked Cicaliao ingredient too. This cream they are actually quite similar to Dr. Jart Cicapair. They both contain cica of course and guess what, they have 10 types of similar ingredients, which work for deep soothing and moisturizing skin! I seriously need skin soothing for my all-time irritation skin, I’m still seeking ways to reduce my patches of redness on my cheek area.
This cream comes in a tube form too which I personally find super convenient when I put it in my skincare pouch, so tiny yet so sleek. Doesn’t take up my whole space in the pouch. Obviously, even their design just look alike Dr.Jart! Both are in green color, just that they added a touch of pink below. Overall, pretty normal and simple design too. I don’t really bother much about the outlook as long as it is a good product!
This cream is in a gel form instead of a thick and rich texture. I was expecting it was creamy though. It has a very light green color too. I applied this as my day cream and totally fall in love at the first use! WHY? Because it is not sticky at all! It gave me an instant boost of hydration and leaves my skin slightly dewy and plump! I can see it slightly shiny on my forehead and it's not because of my oily skin ok! I personally feel it absorb faster than the Dr.Jart cicapair, it doesn’t make my skin feels tacky or sticky at all. Even until late evening, my skin still feeling fresh and hydrated.
Which one to choose? Which is better?
The answer is VT Cosmetic Cica Cream. I chose this because I really love how it transformed my skin within 1 week. Of course, I’m not expecting the 360 degrees of changes, but I could see my sebum reduce, and eventually my skin doesn’t feel that oily anymore. Another great thing is, I noticed that no new pimples popped out too. Which is something that I’m hoping for! Blackheads and whiteheads too slightly reduced. This is what I could see from my skin within 1 week, probably I need to use it for a long time to see better results. I would definitely recommend this cream if you are having an oily skin type like me. It doesn’t make your face extra oily, in fact, helps to control sebum production. I’m so sorry for the Dr.Jart fans out there, the cicapair just not my cup of tea. It doesn’t make my skin irritated but somehow it makes my face look very oily and I need to use blotting paper to wipe off the extra grease on my face. Probably the cream suitable if you’re staying in a cold-weather country or u has extremely dry flaky skin. You may get this both cream from Stylekorean, I will put the link at the end of this post.
